An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Procurement to join the business as we proceed through rapid growth. 
 

Key Responsibilities

 

To lead and deliver all aspects of Procurement across Fortescue Zero:

  • Ensures procurement function effectively and efficiently procures and delivers all parts, goods and services to the quality, cost and schedule required of all business units and product and program teams.
  • Overall management of annual external spend of ~$200M (FY24), increasing to ~$400M per year by FY26. Leadership across ~2000 global vendor landscape. 
  • Provides active leadership across the current and future supplier landscape, to ensure the business requirements are met for current and future products and requirements
  • Overall management of compliance with Fortescue governance and procurement policies and procedures to mitigate risk and optimise ways of working Drives continuous improvement in systems and processes to provide ongoing efficiencies in the execution of the procurement function, specifically related to data, analytics, IT systems and processes.

 

Operational Duties:

  • Ensure performance of procurement function against quality, cost and schedule of all programs including appropriate reporting and governance.
  • Development and leadership of procurement strategy, including relevant product and program sourcing strategies in addition to commodity and or category strategies to support delivery and dynamic business needs in fast-evolving industry.
  • Strong ownership and understanding of the supplier landscape including identification and mitigation of risk profile for all major programs.
  • Support and lead (as required) key strategic supplier negotiations and senior leadership engagement, including oversight of key commercial positions and contract landscape to protect Fortescue and deliver value to the programs.
  • Leadership of the resolution of supplier quality, schedule and other risks as required where required.
  • Support and lead (as required) development of performance monitoring and assessment frameworks to ensure continuous alignment with business requirements and improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership on sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, in accordance with Fortescue requirements.
  • Optimisation of systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of the function.
  • Provide senior leadership reporting at program and group levels, and to CEOs and Board as required depending on value and risk profile

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

 

  • Bachelor level (or higher) education in relevant business, legal, commerce, supply chain management, engineering or related field.
  • At least 15 years experience with proven track record in leading large teams with significant external stakeholder engagement and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Global experience in general management, supply chain or procurement within related fields and industries across mining, general industrial, heavy industry, automotive, defence, aerospace or related sectors.
  • Significant experience presenting to C-Suite and Boards.
  • Experience within a scale up / high growth business highly advantageous.
  • Experience leading major transformation and change programs to drive improved efficiency.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Chain level 6 qualification (or similar) advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of Procurement technology platforms, systems (e.g SAP) and processes highly valued.
