Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday (will consider flexible work options)
Over the past year Fortescue Energy Operations have been building a dedicated Strategic Planning team to undertake all energy modelling, forecasting, analysis, and reporting across Fortescue. The scope of the team is for the short, medium and long term horizons.
The Principal Energy Planning will have the opportunity to engage with multiple stakeholders across the business to deliver key analytical insights in line with the planning and forecasting process. This role will also support the strategy function of the team through analysis and communicating insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on the Fortescue energy operations as well as the broader industry. Including but not limited to trends, benchmarks, and risk analysis.
- Provide PLEXOS subject matter expertise and mentor other team members.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the internal operations and energy market.
- Maintain the PLEXOS energy model assumptions.
- Run the PLEXOS energy model to support scenario and long-term modelling.
- Deliver analysis through written reports and presentations.
- Regularly present findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Identify and drive process improvements, operations optimisation, and the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports.
- Engage with stakeholders to frame and analyse key strategic planning decisions and gather critical data.
- Other ad hoc tasks as required to support the Strategic Planning function.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualified in Finance/Accounting/Engineering.
- 7+ years’ experience in a business analyst role or equivalent.
- 7+ years’ experience in the energy sector. Renewables experience is desired.
- 3+ years PLEXOS and a power management system experience.
- Ability to take complex analysis and communicate in simple concepts.
- Advanced problem-solving and business analysis techniques, with an ability to report and use metrics to communicate insights.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple analytical work streams.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
