Roster: Monday to Friday

 

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and adaptive Solar Innovation Technical Advisor who will play a crucial role in supporting the interface between the Fortescue Decarbonisation Green Power and Project Delivery team.

 

This role ensures cohesive operations and involves the initial screening and assessment of technologies, preparing them for implementation into Fortescue projects. In this role, you will be responsible for engaging with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and assessing the potential of technological and commercial innovations to accelerate cost of energy reduction in large-scale solar projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work as a member of the Fortescue Green Power team to conduct initial screenings and detailed evaluations of solar technology and innovation applications to assess their impact on reducing cost of solar energy (LCOE)
  • Maintain an understanding of the technology pipeline and market availability, and produce project schedules and estimates to support LCOE calculations
  • Ensure compatibility and integration of various solar technologies and innovations into projects
  • Review technical documentation and validate proposals made by OEMs
  • Provide insights on innovation cases compared to emerging trends and current practices in the utility solar sector
  • Recommend strategies to manage risk during innovation adoption and advise on long-term LCOE reduction goals
  • Support the establishment and administration of Technical Working Groups (TWG) where innovations meet LCOE reduction criteria
  • Prepare information to be used in reports for executive leaders and steering committees.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Senior or Principal Project Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years of experience working in renewable energy 
  • Demonstrated experience and a proven record of working in a team with focus on project delivery in Pilbara or similar preferred
  • Strong understanding of the solar technology pipeline and market availability
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to and facilitate groups and clearly communicate complex concepts in written form
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, especially in converting detailed information into coherent portfolio insights
  • Knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector are essential
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation with attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
