Roster: Monday to Friday

 

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and adaptive Solar Technical Advisor who will play a crucial role in supporting the interface between the Fortescue Decarbonisation Green Power and Project Delivery team.

 

This role ensures cohesive operations and involves the initial screening and assessment of technologies, preparing them for implementation into Fortescue projects. In this role, you will be responsible for engaging with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and assessing the potential of technological and commercial innovations to accelerate cost of energy reduction in large-scale solar projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work as a member of the Fortescue Green Power team to conduct initial screenings of technology and innovation applications to assess their ability to meet Fortescue’s yield and production requirements, including technology readiness level
  • Support and oversee the transition process from scoping and pre-feasibility phases to deployment for selected technologies or innovations
  • Participate in technical working groups, conducting detailed technical assessments, preparing energy profiles, solar farm layouts, and performing detailed LCOE calculations
  • Develop and maintain project reports, protocols, and knowledge-sharing documents, ensuring comprehensive documentation and ongoing monitoring of project progress
  • Provide administrative support to the Green Power team, including scheduling, and project documentation
  • Establish project controls and reporting frameworks
  • Set up live dashboards for projects
  • Ensure team members have access to necessary technical resources, data, and external expertise
  • Assist in strategic guidance and monitoring of project functions
  • Prepare information to be used in reports for executive leaders and steering committees.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience working in renewable energy 
  • Demonstrated experience and a proven record of working in a team with focus on solar farm design and PVsyst analysis
  • Experience
  • Strong understanding of the solar technology pipeline and market availability
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to and facilitate groups and clearly communicate complex concepts in written form
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, especially in converting detailed information into coherent portfolio insights
  • Knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector are essential
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation with attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
