Fortescue has an exciting future ahead, establishing itself for future growth in a global market through innovation, product diversification and asset development.
Our Values drive our culture and performance through a strong focus on safety and family. We celebrate and respect people’s differences and remain committed to providing a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Our program offers students the opportunity to learn in a practical and hands-on environment during your time with us. You will be paired with a specialist in your chosen field to provide professional supervision and mentoring.
We are currently recruiting for graduates, undergraduates and vacation students to join the Fortescue and Fortescue Future Industries families.
Graduate Program
Fortescue offers a two-year, structured graduate program to provide participants with exposure to a site operational role, technical placements, as well as experience in a business functional role aimed at encouraging ‘whole of business’ thinking.
Our graduate program offers opportunities in a broad range of disciplines utilised across both mining and green energy. The programs are Perth and fly-in fly-out based to ensure that operational experience is provided to broaden the career opportunities for these new employees.
Graduates receive ongoing training and development, mentoring by our leaders, and access to a strong network so they can share experiences, learn from each other, and develop connections that will last their entire career.
Eligibility
Fortescue’s graduate program is open to students in their final year of university or who have recently completed a relevant degree.
We are looking for passionate graduates who will step up to the challenge and be part of our innovative and driven organisation. We are also committed to building a diverse workforce and are especially keen to speak to graduates from the Pilbara region as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Vacation Program
Fortescue’s Vacation program offers tertiary students the opportunity to work at one of our operations in a hands-on environment. As part of the program, students are given a project and are paired with a Fortescue team member who provides mentoring and supervision.
The program runs for twelve weeks from December to February and include placements in both Perth and site-based placements on a fly-in fly-out roster to expose students to our operations.

We provide apprentices and trainees the opportunity to grow their skills and knowledge over a 12-month to 4-year, structured training period. The programs include on the job training and a range of classroom TAFE and offsite development, which leads to a nationally recognised trade qualification.
These programs cover a range of trades to support Fortescue, including electricians, heavy vehicle mechanics, fixed plant mechanics, fabricators, and light vehicle mechanics. Our apprentices are rotated around our sites to build connections and maximise their learning opportunities.
