Our Opportunity

 

Work Location:  Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

 

Roster: 8D6R - FIFO ex Perth, Busselton, Port Hedland, Karratha and Broome 

 

The Resource Definition department is looking for an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join our drilling teams located throughout Western Australia’s northern areas. This is a site-based position across various of our sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively lead team through technical and coordination challenges on site.
  • Responsible for co-ordination with onsite departments
  • Oversee ongoing collection of hydrogeological data.
  • Assist with periodic updates to the conceptual model
  • Provide feedback to Specialist Drilling Hydrogeologist regarding contractor management and site conditions to enable effective scheduling and budgeting
  • Review Desktop and Field Recon reports.
  • Plan project short term implementation
  • Submit LUC
  • Review and Issue project work instructions
  • Oversee Hydro Supervision of Earthworks, Drill Rig and Pump Test supervision.
  • Oversee Data collection and storage, and provide QA/QC on the data.
  • Responsible for reporting, analysis and conceptualization.
  • Responsible for ordering and control of materials.
  • Daily plod and monthly contractor invoice reconciliation 
  • Encourage a culture of zero harm in alignment with FMG’s business model.
  • Perform field interactions and PTO's.
  • Ensuring safe work procedures for contractors and FMG personnel.
  • Investigate and close out any incidents or actions related to Hydro drilling workspace.
  • Carry out required reporting

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5 years field experience with Hydrogeological projects.
  • A thorough understanding of Fortescue workflows and systems
  • Tertiary Qualification in Hydrogeology/Geology or related discipline
  • Good analytical, planning, and prioritizing skills with ability to utilize knowledge gained.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse geological and hydrogeological data in a timely manner
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop good working relationships
  • Ability to work independently and confidently in remote areas under variable weather conditions
