Work Location:  This role will be based across Fortescue's Western Hub (Solomon and Eliwana). Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples. Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

 

Roster: 8D6R FIFO ex Perth, Karratha or Busselton

 

Fortescue is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Supervisor to lead and support our Belt Technician team across the Western Hub. Reporting to the Superintendent, this position is a key leadership role responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Belt Splicers to safely carry out shutdown preparation and execution as well maintaining, repairing and improving conveyor systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and supervise the belt crew maintaining a high focus on safety whilst leading by example and displaying the core values 
  • Shutdown preparation, execution and supervision of shutdown belt teams
  • Respond to breakdowns as required
  • Provide on job support and coaching to personnel
  • Carry out steel cord & fabric conveyor belt splicing and repairs including all aspects of conveyor system maintenance 
  • Hazard identification and rectification

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work under pressure 
  • Level 3 Belt Splicing Qualification or equivalent
  • Significant experience in large scale conveyor change outs, set up and execution
  • Knowledge and experience in computer maintenance management systems (SAP, PDS)
  • Significant experience in a shutdown environment and fixed plant continuous processing plant
  • Good verbal, written and computer skills alongside sound problem solving and analytical skills
