Work Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

As an Experienced High Voltage Electrician at Fortescue within the Mine Services team, you will play a vital role in maintaining, testing and repairing high voltage assets associated with not only the electric HME fleet but future asset’s including electric SME, Micro Grids and Fast Chargers for our Battery powered haul trucks. Along with being responsible for electrical assets and equipment associated with the site dewatering network. This position is critical for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of our mining activities contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of our site. Suitable candidates will require experience and technical knowledge of HV electrical infrastructure and dewatering equipment
Reporting to the Mine Services Electrical Supervisor, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the HV power supply to 9400E excavators, all associated assets and HV infrastructure. Along with operations, maintenance and repairs of all dewatering network electrical equipment across Eliwana. You will interact with the mining and HME teams to help ensure an efficient and well delivered operation of these assets with minimal disruption to mining performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold and demonstrate Fortescue's values, adhering to the code of conduct and fostering a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace environment.
- Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on high voltage equipment and systems, including mining machinery
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of high voltage systems to ensure compliance with safety and industry standards
- Routine electrical servicing, maintenance, and repairs of VSDs, bore pumps, diesel generators, MIRIs and associated instrumentation
- Implement and monitor electrical safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and keep up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and safety standards.
- Respond to breakdowns or outages, quickly diagnosing issues and restoring power in a timely manner.
- Ensure that daily work completed is reflected in work orders and time confirmations in SAP, Creation of notification and work orders for all unplanned/breakdown work that is conducted outside of plan in the current week.
Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical trade qualification.
- High Voltage Switching Ticket.
- Current WA A Class Electrical Workers licence.
- Senior first aid & Low voltage rescue and CPR
- Current C class WA driving license
- Certificate IV Instrumentation - UEE40411 – desired
- Experience in VFD and Miri Mapping – desired
- Experience in maintenance of Mine Dewatering assets
- Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high voltage systems, preferably within the mining industry or similar heavy industrial environments.
- A strong understanding of HV safety practices and regulations.
- Effective communication skills, capable of working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure operational objectives are met.
- Experience in computer-based maintenance systems - SAP (desirable)
