Our Opportunity

Work Location: Eliwana Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 90 kilometres west of Tom Price.

 

 

Roster:8D6R – (Day) FIFO Ex Perth/Busselton

 

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this position plays a key support and mentoring role within Fortescue’s Eliwana Mobile Maintenance team. The role is responsible for ensuring safe and cost-effective maintenance execution by providing governance over FMG’s overarching work management standards and departmental guidelines, driving long-term improvements in fleet performance and safe work execution.As a senior leader, this position supports and collaborates with department execution supervisors to align with departmental objectives, foster a safe and engaging workplace, and achieve mining fleet performance metrics in line with the mine plan.Fortescue recently unveiled its roadmap to becoming the world’s first heavy industry company to go green by 2030, aiming to eliminate fossil fuel use and achieve real zero emissions (scope 1 and 2) across our iron ore operations.

 

 Eliwana will be the first operation in Fortescue and the world to shift to green iron operations. Your role will include support of the role out of green fleet technology and adapting the maintenance team plus infrastructure as green innovative technology becomes available.Fortescue is undertaking a large paradigm shift to becoming a global Green Energy and Iron Ore provider.

 

This change will mean that all areas of our Mining operation have been targeted to run and operate on renewable energy /alternate sources to remove carbon emissions from our core business by 2030. We will adopt new technology/operational methods across all areas Mining SME/HME. The reference to Green Fleet is a part of that change.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the front-line leaders, execution, and planning teams. Support supervisors by interaction and discussion about daily work execution and assisting the progression of jobs when parts issues, tooling or additional trades are required for the task.
  • Provide support and assistance to department supervisors and leaders in meeting and working with Daily Metrics.
  • Looking forward to planning maintenance to best set team up for success. (Champion the rolling 48hour plan)
  • Actively drive the elimination of live work and ITR initiatives.
  • Manage the mobilisation of service contractors.
  • Assist in the management and site preparation of the incoming HME/SME fleet MCORS program and on-site shuts.
  • Manage a small team of OEM specialists and specialist labour.
  • Adapting to innovative technologies as part of FMG’s Green Fleet transition and Decarb plans.
  • Provide a consistent link with our OEM’s and vendors to ensure schedule adherence, cost control and prompt issue resolution.
  • Ensure that the site Fleet Management Strategy is adhered to.
  • Willingness to learn new disciplines and skills.
  • Promote a positive and engaging influence at all levels.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade Qualified -  HD Fitter/Auto Electrician
  • Proven experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance and overseeing Safe Maintenance Activities.
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Contractor management experience
  • Proficient in Excel, SAP, Anaplan, and Word
  • Key stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Work management and planning experience preferred but not essential as can be learnt on the job
