Join our team as a Mine Control Superintendent, where you’ll lead remote control room operations, drive operational excellence, and develop future leaders across multiple mining sites. Your expertise in data analysis, project management, and team development will be key to our success.

 

Work Location:   Perth.  Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster:    4D/3R - Perth based.         

 

As a Mine Control Superintendent, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the mining process from the remote control room. You’ll oversee the daily operations of control rooms across multiple sites, analysing performance data to push your teams towards industry best practices.

 

Your key responsibilities include leading and managing projects aimed at operational improvements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and monitoring project progress. You’ll support the Mine Control Supervisors by addressing their daily needs, developing training materials, and evaluating their performance to create tailored coaching and development plans, fostering the leaders of tomorrow.

 

Drawing on your extensive experience, you’ll diagnose and resolve process and system-related performance issues, ensuring efficient workflows, addressing challenges, and optimising performance across various teams and sites. Your strong leadership, exceptional organisational skills, and deep understanding of operational procedures will enable you to implement measures that enhance efficiency, ensure safety compliance, and drive operational excellence.

 

Your expertise in data analysis and reporting will be crucial in identifying trends, preparing comprehensive reports, and providing recommendations to optimise processes and improve overall performance

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily mining operations and control rooms across multiple sites to ensure efficiency and productivity. Coordinate with departments to optimise resource extraction and production schedules and analyse performance data to drive best practices.
  • Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain a strong understanding of operational procedures to drive excellence.
  • Team Management and Development: Lead and mentor mining personnel, including Mine Control Supervisors. Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and develop tailored coaching plans to foster future leaders.
  • Project Leadership and Planning: Lead projects aimed at operational improvements. Develop and implement mining plans to achieve production targets, working with cross-functional teams to execute activities and monitor progress.
  • Issue Resolution and Optimisation: Diagnose and resolve process and system issues. Ensure efficient workflows, address challenges, and optimise performance across teams and sites.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Use data analysis to identify trends, prepare reports, and provide recommendations for process optimisation. Communicate effectively with staff, management, and stakeholders about project progress and goals.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or business management, leadership, or an advanced degree or certifications in mining, management, or safety, are highly beneficial
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience in managing control room operations across multiple sites is highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of mining operations, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in autonomous mining software and technology for data analysis and reporting.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, including developing training materials and coaching plans. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and teams effectively.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and resolving process and system-related performance issues. Ability to optimise workflows and address operational challenges efficiently.
  • Communication and Reporting: Excellent communication skills to interact with your team, and external stakeholders. Expertise in data analysis to prepare comprehensive reports and provide actionable recommendations for process improvement.
