Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people (PKKP), located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 90 kilometres west of Tom Price.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Electrical Supervisor – Power Station & Electrical Network to play a critical leadership role within Fortescue’s Mine Services department at Eliwana.

 

Reporting to the Utilities Superintendent, this position offers a key leadership role for Fortescue’s Eliwana Mine Services Power and Water Services team. Responsible for leading and mentoring a team of trades-based personnel to safely deliver power to the Eliwana mine site, including but not limited to maintaining two Power Stations consisting of 18 diesel powered generators and the associated electricity network, the electrical components of Mine dewatering assets including centrifugal pumps, soft-starter control panels, VSD control panels, motor distribution centres, telemetry, SCADA and PLCs.

 

This role will also be instrumental in Fortescue’s ambitious transition to green energy, as part of our commitment to eliminate fossil fuel use and achieve real zero emissions across our operations by 2030. You will help drive the adoption of green fleet technology and foster innovation within the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team, building a high-performing workforce and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel for work being conducted within the power station and high voltage network.
  • Ensure company safe working practices and Life Saving Choices are strictly followed to achieve zero harm and incidents.
  • Manage employee rosters, leave and training requirements to ensure coverage for the 24-hour operation.
  • Arrange daily, weekly work orders to adhere to scheduled compliance.
  • Maintain continuous improvement initiatives within team.
  • Ensure all breakdown repairs are conducted safely and in a timely manner, adhering to Fortescue’s high safety standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and ensure compliance with all relevant Mines Regulations and OH&S legislation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Australian-recognised trade certificate.
  • At least 3 years site based, Power Station and or High Voltage Network maintenance supervisory experience. 
  • High Voltage Switching qualification.
  • Instrumentation experience.  
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train teams in a rapidly changing environment, particularly with reference to new technologies.
  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling is desirable.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety 
  • Strong leadership skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Ability to manage resources and conflicting demands in an operational environment. 
  • Sound understanding of Mines Regulations, OH&S, and other relevant legislation.
  • Familiarity with HR/IR processes and career path development.
  • Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
