Our Opportunity
Location: Eliwana/Flying Fish, Pilbara region, Western Australia (90 km west of Tom Price), on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.
Roster: 7 days, 7 nights, 14 off – FIFO from Perth and Busselton.
Join Fortescue’s Eliwana team as a Fabricator within our Mobile Maintenance division. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of scheduled maintenance and repairs on large-scale mining equipment. Your work will include general fabrication duties, as well as specialised repairs. As part of Fortescue’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, you’ll contribute to the maintenance of our fleet as we transition to the Green Fleet, helping to support our goal of net-zero emissions by 2030.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on large-scale mobile mining equipment.
- Undertake general fabrication duties, including repairs to buckets, blades, and bowls.
- Support both workshop and in-field maintenance activities as required.
- Collaborate with the mobile maintenance teams to achieve 100% schedule compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Fortescue and site-specific safety procedures and policies.
- Adapt to and incorporate innovative technologies as part of the Green Fleet transition.
Qualifications and Experience
General Bucket repairs
- Replacing wear plates and strips using arc air gouging method
- Repetitive grinding on surface after gouging
- Long duration of welding, sometimes on hand and knees
- Use of pneumatic tooling to clean area and scale (needle gun)
- Oxy cutting plate use oxy acetylene handpiece
- Using hammer and wedges to fit plate to new surface area of bucket
- Replacing work Ground engaging tools (G.E.T)
- Boom and Stick Crack Repairs
- Use of Elevated work platform and harness with fall restraint device
- Arc air gouging for long periods while standing and leaning towards job surface
- Grinding and welding for long periods while leaning towards job surface
Machine Repairs
- Chassis repairs on CAT/Liebherr/Komatsu/Hitachi machinery
- Handrail repairs
- Machine inspections
- Blade/bucket/tray inspections
- In pit repairs ( ability to problem solve breakdowns)
- Repairs and modifications to LV’s
General Fabrication
- Cutting, grinding and welding steel sections to form a fabricated structure
- Standing and using power tools for long periods of time
- Working in awkward positions whilst welding or grinding
- Lifting and sliding steel sections to manipulate them into position to weld, grind or cut
