About the role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Contracts Manager with a strong background in the mining and construction equipment sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in negotiating and managing large-scale, long-term supply contracts with major equipment manufacturers. This role is pivotal in ensuring that contractual agreements align with organizational objectives, mitigate risks, and foster strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Development and Negotiation:

Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex supply contracts with OEMs, ensuring terms are favourable and aligned with company goals.

Collaborate with legal, procurement, and technical teams to ensure contracts meet all legal and operational requirements.

 

  • Contract Management and Compliance:

Oversee the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.

Monitor contract performance, address deviations, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

 

  • Supplier Relationship Management:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to facilitate smooth contract execution and address any issues promptly.

Conduct regular reviews and meetings with suppliers to ensure mutual understanding and alignment.

 

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Identify potential risks in contract terms and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact contractual agreements.

 

  • Strategic Planning and Support:

Contribute to the development of procurement strategies that support long-term business objectives.

Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on contract-related matters.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification in contract management is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in contract management within the mining and construction equipment industries.
  • Proven experience in negotiating large-scale supply contracts with major equipment manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex contractual documents and identify key issues and opportunities.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working in multinational organizations and managing cross-border contracts.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and environmental considerations in equipment procurement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
