Reporting within Decarb Solutions to Manager Green Equipment, Fortescue Morocco is seeking a Mine Planning - Analyst who will work in close collaboration with Project Managers across Fortescue Decarb and Fortescue Energy/Fortescue Zero to provide insight, analysis and optimization recommendations that contribute to delivering Mine Planning Capabilities in line with Fortescue standards for Benguerir - with the initial 18 month focus on project in Morocco.  

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • The Mine Planning Analyst role will provide technical expertise to build out ore body knowledge and value capture. This will involve: 
    • Ensuring OCP suite of software solutions (Datamine and Deswik based) are deployed with complementary approaches and rigor to Fortescue. 
    • Help deploy 3D mining geology model and resources optimization techniques (including approach for scaling across mines). 
    • Ensuring core process disciplines are in place with the new Mine Planning team including Resource Definition, Resource Modelling, Resource Planning, Geotechnical optimization, Hydrology and Metallurgy
    • Helping build skills within OCP mine planning team working on Benguerir Mine to Fortescue standards and planning disciplines
  • This role will provide technical expertise on Long Term planning horizons and integrated planning.
  • Help to create Integrated Demand planning capability, with pull process back from end customer into Medium Term Mine Plans
  • Help Build out reconciliation processes between geological models and actual movement with KPIs around compliance to plan, grade v block out predictions, regression updates
  • Operationally cascade 5-year, Annual, Monthly, Weekly, Daily process
  • Compliance monitoring of Exploratory Mine's operational capacity, with spatial compliance for Annual plan being completed monthly
  • Development of “energy led” planning processes
  • This role will also provide technical expertise to deliver long terms plans via medium-short term planning by:
    • Active interfaces for integration with operations and scheduling
    • Survey and Drill and Blast team including full site compliance control
    • TMP design standards and compliance
    • Ensuring Drill and blast engineers use CAD for blast designs to manage blast vibration and airwave limits
    • Develop capable Production Engineers embedded in each shift
    • Building skillsets and competence in use of Deswik Tools including feedback and guidance on the quality and rigour of OCPs planning
    • Ensure deployment of high-performance governance schedule, reports (both production and stockpiles, daily monitoring, risk controls).

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in relevant area (e.g. Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Civil or similar experience)
  • Strong computer competence (excel, powerpoint, basic project tools and development applications) critical, and coding skills beneficial 
  • 5+ years postgraduate in open cut mining and related operations
  • Experience in summarizing and presenting insights in a compelling and comprehensive manner including power point storylines and action oriented recommendations 
  • Mine planning and operational experience required 
  • Consulting or advisory experience would be beneficial 
  • Operations experience
  • Mine Planning experience (short, medium and long term)
  • Mining Technical Services (open cut commodities)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills 
  • Self-direction and ability to work in an agile project approach – able to act pragmatically on clear initial guidance 
  • Data validation and identification of information requirements/gaps 
  • Problem solving 
  • Build requirements from stakeholder engagement
