The Country Head for Fortescue’s Decarb Advisory services will manage the in-country delivery of decarbonisation projects, while building out the Moroccan team with a mix of local, international and existing-Fortescue experience

 

The role will have responsibility to deploy zero-carbon emission outcomes with 3rd party clients, while embedding Fortescue Battery Power systems within the solution set including project for renewable power supply, decarbonized mining and logistics, and efficient operational growth

 

This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in project management, sustainability practices, and decarbonization technologies

 

Areas of accountability will include

  • Green Energy Systems – ensuring adequate firmed renewable power supply for decarbonized operations, managing variable supply, defining operational response levers and hierarchies, optimization of energy use, managing interfaces between power supply and operations, and with existing transmission grids, deploying leading edge energy management software solutions
  • Green Equipment Solutions – including the transition of Heavy Mining and Logistics equipment from carbon-based fuel or power supply to green battery electric solutions or green fuel alternatives, deploying globally leading technology solutions (e.g. autonomous fleet software, advanced research center prototyping) and ongoing analysis and insight on the most cost effective manner to deploy decarbonized outcomes while maintaining and expanding operating volumes
  • Green Mining practices – defining and deploying operational efficiency levers and initiatives to delivery world class operating practices under a decarbonized operating model, deploying a comprehensive suite of leading mine planning software tools and related planning practices, implementing and scaling operating practices and procedures in line with Fortescue best practices across fixed and mobile plant, driving effective change management of the transition to green operations, delivering a values-based culture of coaching, development, and team performance

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Building out a Moroccan based advisory team with depth in energy transition, green power systems, operational efficiency
  • Managing external relationships for end-to-end delivery of high-quality 3rd party engagements
  • Managing a high-performing team within Solutions/Green Power, including providing team coaching, feedback, development
  • Being commercially oriented with prioritization and recommendations on transition options for 3rd parties
  • Building an in-country reputation for Fortescue and the local team for pragmatic, results-oriented decarbonisation advice
  • Identifying and capturing ongoing revenue opportunities in the area of Decarbonization and Green Power systems

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Post-graduate degree in relevant area (e.g. Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science)             
  • 15+ years plus working in the area of Energy Management and Energy Transition (across multiple energy types)
  • 10+ years managing large teams to successfully deliver complex projects
  • Worked within regulatory environments in green power in Morocco (desirable)    
  • Robust understanding of Renewable Power systems 
  • Robust understanding of heavy industry operations
  • Commercial decision-making models
