The IT/OT Specialist for Fortescue’s Decarb Advisory services in Morocco will manage the in-country delivery of IT/OT expertise for autonomous mining operations and drilling operations while building out Moroccan delivery use cases with a mix of local, international and existing-Fortescue experienced support staff

 

  • The role will have a responsibility to embed and deploy Fortescue’s IT/OT expertise and software within the zero-carbon emission equipment with 3rd party clients via specifically defined project milestones, outcomes and KPIs – across mining, processing and logistics. This will involve providing expertise on:
    • Integration and alignment of Fortescue approach with client’s agenda and priorities
    • Guide client in its Mining OT infrastructure installation including infield and back-end requirements
    • FMS/AHS - provide expertise on Fortex deployment in pilot mine including collaborative working with the Fortex project delivery team
    • 2-way communication procurement (Tetra radio) and rolled out to support test mine
    • Align GPS base station technical specs with Fortex and ADS needs
    • Jointly lead training of client’s OT network team (through on-the-job interactions or Australian immersion training)
    • Advise set up of remote control room OT to support future growth requirements within the region, in close working collaboration with OEMs
    • Deploy active autonomy supervision processes and ways of work
    • Ensure accurate tracking is in place for FMS/AHS/ADS performance, incl. time allowances for ramp up assumptions, data normalization 
  • Actively support any requests for inputs into additional advisory with existing or new in-country or in-region customers
  • Ensuring project compliance with local operating regulations, overseas parent company guidelines, local employment and environmental laws, any other relevant regulations


 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Delivering effective project outcomes in the IT / OT network scope for Fortescue clients
  • Managing external project relationships for end-to-end delivery of high-quality 3rd party engagements, including coordinating standards, delivery and support expectations, mechanisms to most effectively deploy IT / OT network for mining automation
  • Managing a high-performing project team, including providing team coaching, feedback, development
  • Being pragmatic, and commercially oriented with prioritization and recommendations on improved project delivery options 
  • Helping to build an in-country reputation for Fortescue and the local team for action-oriented, results-driven advice and delivery
  • Helping Fortescue teams and Moroccan management to deliver ongoing project opportunities in the area of Decarbonization and Green Equipment

  • Decarbonisation Project Managers in 3rd party clients, Decarbonization Project Leads in 3rd party clients (with a focus on Green Equipment)
  • Stakeholders from other business units in 3rd party clients e.g. corporate sustainability, finance
  • Equipment OEMs e.g. Liebherr, CAT, Komatsu, etc.


 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree in relevant area (e.g. IT/Computer Science, Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering)
  • Professional training or qualifications in multiple elements across effective project delivery (e.g. PRINCE, PMO skills, Negotiations, Advanced Analytics/AI, people leadership)
  • 5+ years plus working in IT/OT projects or operations related to automation in mining operations and drilling operations
  • 2+ years managing teams to successfully deliver or operate network for automation system
  • Robust understanding of IT/OT network and operations
  • Broad understanding of heavy industry operations and performance levers
  • Empathetic project leadership
  • Technical requirements for zero-carbon emission equipment
  • End-to-end Project Planning and Execution
  • Cross-functional engagement and alignment
  • Technical mining equipment capabilities
  • Clear communication and problem-solving skills
