Position: Manager Green Energy – Decarbonisation
Location: Morocco based
Duration: Initially 18-months
Roster: Mon to Fri
- The Green Energy Manager for Fortescue’s Decarb Advisory services in Morocco will manage the in-country delivery of decarbonization energy projects, while building out the Moroccan delivery team with a mix of local, international and existing-Fortescue experience
- The role will have responsibility to deploy zero-carbon emission and renewable energy outcomes with 3rd party clients, while embedding Fortescue Battery Power systems within the solution set. This will include a range of supply projects for renewable power, and deployment of dynamic energy management solutions (proprietary software and operating practices) for demand response coordination
Key Responsibilities
- This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in project management, renewable energy supply, and decarbonization technologies
Areas of accountability will include
- Green Energy Supply – ensuring adequate firmed renewable power supply for decarbonized operations, including on-time, on-budget, on-specification delivery of a mix of renewable energy projects (including wind, solar, and battery deployment), ensuring delivery or required transmission infrastructure, managing variable supply to end-use requirements across a mix of public and private networks
- Green Energy Systems –, defining operational response levers and hierarchies, optimization of energy use, managing interfaces between power supply and operations, and with existing transmission grids, deploying leading edge energy management software solutions
- Green Energy environment – understanding local energy regulation and operating policies, relevant international sustainability policies and guidelines for carbon abatement, and defining strategies to optimize economic supply of power to meet operational requirements, including growth scenarios and related emissions reporting requirements
- Green Operational practices – understanding levers to optimize renewable energy use through transition from traditional to green supply environments, including collaborating with Green Equipment and Green Operations project teams within the Fortescue Morocco structure, plus collating and sharing insights from work into the global Fortescue Decarbonization teams
- Attracting and retaining a team of green energy operations and renewable power experts who are able to advise and execute decarbonization projects for 3rd parties, with a focus on Green Power transition and related systems
- Develop credible expertise in the operation and integration of large-scale renewable power systems within heavy industry operating environments
- Build a robust understanding of underlying systems and methods for deployment of large-scale renewable power systems to enable green operations, including the economics/funding options for world-class green power systems
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-graduate degree in relevant area (e.g. Engineering, Technology, Environmental Science)
- 10+ years plus working in the area of Energy Transition, Green Equipment, Heavy Mining or Heavy Industrial equipment (across multiple equipment classes)
- 7+ years managing large teams to successfully deliver complex projects
- Worked within regulatory environments in Mining or Industrial operations, or large projects in Morocco
- Excellent range of stakeholder management skills including Senior Management level
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible and accountable
- Skilled in rapid problem solving.
