The Project Manager - Green Energy Systems for Fortescue’s Decarb Advisory services in Morocco will manage the in-country delivery of decarbonization energy projects – in one or more of 3 areas – Green Energy Systems, Renewable Energy Supply, Operational Interfaces while building out the Moroccan delivery use case with a mix of local, international and existing-Fortescue experienced support staff.
The PM role will have responsibility to deploy zero-carbon emission and renewable energy outcomes with third party clients via specifically defined project milestones, outcomes and KPIs. This will likely also involve embedding Fortescue Battery Power systems, Mining demand response systems, and energy optimization systems within the solution set (proprietary Fortescue software and operating practices). It will also involve oversight and coordination of teams working on supply projects for renewable power and battery storage within country, for improved demand response coordination.
This role requires a dynamic project manager with material experience in project planning and execution across renewable energy formats, decarbonization technologies, and asset building – including a firm understanding of levers to optimize team performance, delivery schedules, cost and managing risks to ensure robust quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering effective project outcomes in the Energy Transition space in Morocco or other regional markets – including Green Energy Systems and interactions across operating environments (operational demand response, renewable power supply, energy management, cost effective operating models)
- Managing external project relationships for end-to-end delivery of high-quality third-party engagements
- Managing a high-performing project team, including providing team coaching, feedback, development
- Being pragmatic, and commercially oriented with prioritization and recommendations on improved project delivery options
- Helping to build an in-country reputation for Fortescue and the local team for action-oriented, results-driven decarbonisation advice and delivery
- Helping Fortescue teams and Moroccan management to deliver ongoing project opportunities in the area of Decarbonization and Green Power systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in relevant area (e.g. Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, Sustainability)
- Professional training or qualifications in multiple elements across effective project delivery (e.g. PRINCE, PMO skills, Negotiations, Advanced Analytics/AI, people leadership)
- 5+ years plus working in projects related to Energy Management, Renewable Energy, Energy Transition (preferably across multiple energy sources)
- 2+ years managing teams to successfully deliver energy or efficiency projects in relevant industries
- Robust understanding of Renewable Power systems in one or more of Wind, Solar, Battery deployment
- Broad understanding of heavy industry operations and performance levers
- Commercial decision-making modelling skills
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible and accountable
- Skilled in rapid problem solving.
