Position: Project Manager-Mine Planning 

 

Location: Morocco based

 

Roster: Mon to Fri

 

The Project Manager - Mine Planning will lead the development and execution of innovative mine planning strategies aimed at advancing the company’s decarbonisation objectives. 


This role is critical in driving the integration of sustainable mining practices, focusing on reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and optimising the environmental footprint of the mining operations. 

 


The Project Manager will manage cross-disciplinary teams to design, implement, and monitor effective mine planning solutions that align with our sustainability vision, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently, on budget, and in compliance with environmental regulations.

 


The role is full-time position based in Morocco with an initial contract duration of 18-months. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 


•    The Project Manager – Mine Planning is accountable to manage the Mine Planning team in delivering planning support to the OCP Group.
•    Managing a technical team responsible for drill and blast engineering, production engineering, mine quality and mine surveying functions.
•    Assisting OCP Mine planning team in transition to new systems and processes.
•    Management of production engineering functions including daily and weekly mine schedules, traffic management, designs, and provision and use of data for fleet system.
•    Management of mine planning functions including medium to long-term mine schedules.
•    Management of drill and blast engineering function including drill and blast design, blast tie-in design, explosives forecasting.
•    Management of mine surveying function including end of month volume reporting, aerial flyover, data transfer to/from fleet systems.
•    Providing assistance to mine production to implement productivity improvement projects

Qualifications and Experience

 


•    15+ years postgraduate in open cut mining and related operations.
•    Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Civil or similar with relevant experience
•    Mine planning and operational experience.
•    Experience working with project teams in Energy Transition or renewables business cases (including energy systems) is highly beneficial.
•    Experience on agile based projects / working knowledge of Agile practices would be beneficial.
•    Consulting or advisory experience would be beneficial
•    Mine Planning experience (short, medium and long term)
•    Technical Services leadership
