The Superintendent Exploratory Plant Operations for Fortescue’s Decarb Advisory services in Morocco will support the in-country delivery of green fixed plant projects using their knowledge of Fortescue’s best in class fixed plant operations to provide specialist advice and guidance and design strategies that support the goal of decarbonising the customers operations, while they commission and ramp up the exploratory plant and improve productivity performance
 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • In this role, the Superintendent Exploratory Plant Operations work directly with local working teams, client managers and service providers. They will provide specialised advice and recommendations on how to efficiently commission and operate the fixed plant, reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and implement environmentally friendly technologies and processes. Their primary objective will be to design and refine strategies that enable clients to ramp up a greenfield exploratory plant to showcase how to decarbonise operations of a single asset, while deploying quality, productivity and efficiency standards in line with Fortescue ways of work. They will provide specialised advice and recommendations on how to:
    • Help OCP line managers to meet commissioning ramp up and shutdown schedules 
    • Ensure hopper and bins upgraded to suit 240 tonne truck
    • Guide operating processes and ways of work to target Average Monthly Crusher OEE >75%
    • Assist with standard procedures so Crusher Monthly capacity averages >1000 tonnes per hour
    • Implement a defined Time Usage Model - GMG or Fortescue aligned
    • Help deploy and embed Delay accounting software and any other recommended Fortescue fixed plant operating system changes
    • Help ensure active operational supervision is deployed
    • Assist with commissioning and ramp up of BWP including interfaces with SP2M logistics, applying lessons learned from Fortescue fixed plant ramp ups
    • Assist with processes for blend optimisation and yield recovery, including integration of process control into Gantour IROC outputs
  • Working closely with Fortescue’s Green Mining Manager and operational Project Managers, the Superintendent Exploratory Plant Operations will be instrumental in establishing and overseeing the establishment and ramp up of operations of an Exploratory Plant in Morocco within the next 12-18 months. This will involve guiding client’s line managers and support staff through the setup and integration of the Exploratory Mine into Fixed Plant operations, ensuring that it operates in line with Fortescue's high operational standards. By applying Fortescue’s proven methodologies and technologies, the superintendent will help improve performance outcomes, delivering high levels of productivity and environmental performance to match Fortescue’s world-renowned benchmarks.
  • The role also involves collaborating with client teams to define project milestones, establish clear outcomes, and set key performance indicators (KPIs) to build operations skills, and to measure the success of the decarbonisation efforts. The Superintendent Exploratory Plant Operations will be responsible for helping to ensure these targets are met while guiding client teams and managers through the challenges of adopting and implementing green operations practices and technologies.
  • The Superintendent Exploratory Plant Operations will be crucial in helping clients in Morocco achieve their sustainability, decarbonisation and growth goals, bringing Fortescue's expertise to the forefront of the global mining industry and demonstrating leadership in green mining innovation.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree or Professional Trade in relevant area (e.g. Engineering, Mining Engineering, Techncial Trades)
  • 10+ years working in Mining Fixed Plant Operations or Projects including capital projects, equipment deployment, active operations, productivity uplift, blend and resource optimization, change management
  • 7+ years experience in previous senior mining fixed plant leadership roles 
  • Robust understanding of Mining fixed plant operations and performance levers
  • Fixed Plant operations best practices
  • Commercial decision-making modelling skills
  • Mining fixed plant performance levers and trade offs
  • Thorough understanding of mine safety 
  • Proven track record in supervising and leading operational people (with a focus on load and haul operations)
  • Collaboratively interacting with Mining Operations and Maintenance
  • Demonstrated earthworks technical application and continuous improvement practices using technology
  • Cross-functional engagement and alignment
  • Clear communication and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for driving meaningful change
  • Ongoing desire to learn and embrace stretch targets
