We are currently seeking a highly motivated Data Analytics Engineer to join our Autonomy Operations team. Reporting to the Lead Performance (Optimisation & Performance), this role is responsible for data analysis and decision support systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse large datasets related to mining operations. Develop predictive models to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that can enhance operational efficiency and safety. Develop proof of concept ML models
- Integrate diverse data sources, including sensor data, geological data, and operational data, to create comprehensive datasets for analysis. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow between different systems
- Design and implement algorithms for optimisation, automation, and predictive maintenance to enhance mining processes. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in data science to continuously improve algorithms
- Create insightful and actionable visualisations to communicate complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) teams to develop user-friendly dashboards
- Run stakeholder engagement and process improvement workshops to gather requirements, opportunities or to deploy recent process changes
- Work alongside Business Analysts to map the impact of changes to Functional Requirements of the solutions being developed
- Work closely with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide data-driven insights. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data security, integrity and availability
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation and automation through the use of data analytics. Actively participate in research and development activities to explore innovative solutions for mining-related challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, IT or Computer Science
- Preferred to have a Master's Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist in an industrial setting, preferably within the mining industry
- Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, Matlab or R.
- Working knowledge of data visualisation tools like PowerBI
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong problem-solving skills
- 3+ year’s experience in Mining Industry. Knowledge in open pit mining, preferably in iron ore.
