Autonomous Mining System Technician
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Roles available at different Fortescue sites across the Pilbara
Roster: 8D/6R, 7D/7N or 7D/7N/14R
Join Fortescue as an Autonomous Mining Technician and work at the forefront of mining innovation! In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the heart of our advanced autonomous operations, maintaining and optimising our mining equipment and connected assets. This is a unique chance to work hands-on with the latest in mining technology, including Fortescue’s own Fortex system, driving our mission for safe, efficient, and innovative operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on autonomous equipment, including Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and Light Vehicles (LV).
- Install, configure, and calibrate GPS, AHS, and network technology systems.
- Troubleshoot and optimise fleet management systems to enhance operational efficiency and meet Mine Plan goals.
- Work collaboratively with the Mobile Maintenance team to ensure schedule compliance.
- Conduct both workshop and in-pit duties, adhering to Fortescue’s safety policies and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Australian-recognised Trade Certificate as an HD Mechanic, Auto Electrician, or closely related field in autonomy.
- Experience on heavy mobile mining and autonomous fleet systems (Caterpillar, Liebherr).
- Exposure to Flanders, or related autonomous technology products.
- Strong skills in reading and interpreting electronic schematics.
- Commitment to safety and strong communication skills.
