Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

 

Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth

 

The Fixed Plant Belt Technician reports directly to the OPF Maintenance Services Supervisor and plays a key role in maintaining, repairing, and improving conveyor systems and equipment. The role ensures availability and reliability to the plant while upholding Fortescue's safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain a strong focus on Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices aligned with Fortescue standards.
  • Perform steel cord and fabric conveyor belt splicing, repairs, and pulley lagging using cold vulcanised techniques.
  • Apply rubber linings to components such pipes, chutes, and spools.
  • Perform basic scraper maintenance (belt cleaning).
  • Conduct conveyor maintenance, including roller/frame replacements, skirt repairs, and installing tracking devices. as
  • Operate mechanical belt handling equipment (winders, winches, belt stands).
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and log data in the asset management system (PDS).

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Level 3 Belt Splicing trade qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience using computer maintenance management systems (SAP, PDS).
  • Significant experience in fixed plant continuous processing environments.
  • Strong understanding of production and maintenance strategies for large-scale operations.
  • Commitment to safety and zero harm.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
