Blast Supervisor
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people (PKKP), located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 90 kilometres west of Tom Price.
Roster: 8D6X FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue are currently seeking an experienced Blast Supervisor to join our Eliwana team. Reporting to the Drill & Blast Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day blast activities and personnel, in order to ensure mine safety and production targets are achieved in an efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement blast plans to optimise ore extraction, ensuring alignment with production schedules and goals.
- Ensure all blasting activities comply with safety regulations and Fortescue policies, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Lead and supervise the blast team, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.
- Ensure blast patterns are kept to a high standard and all associated equipment is maintained in a safe condition.
- Drive blasting techniques and procedures that promotes zero harm and improves performance and cost efficiencies
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 2 years proven leadership experience with a strong safety focus
- Schedule 26 Statutory legislation exam and risk management units of competency completed or in process
- Experience with both Nonel and Electronic firing and Blast Controlling essential
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor personnel
- Shotfirer ticket, Dangerous Goods Security Card - storage, transport and handling of explosives experience
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships at all levels
