Project Analyst
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday 5 Days / 2 Off
As a Project Analyst – Grants and Incentives, you will be responsible for identifying, documenting, and assisting with the preparation of Fortescue’s R&D tax incentive claims and grant funding applications. You will work closely with the project teams to evaluate their R&D activities and determine eligibility for tax credits and grants. Additionally, you will help prepare the necessary documentation for both tax claims and grant submissions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess the technical and commercial aspects of R&D projects to maximise financial benefits from both tax incentives and government grants.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare claims and supporting documentation in alignment with R&D tax incentive guidelines and grant requirements.
- Assess R&D projects and activities to determine eligibility for R&D tax incentives.
- Prepare detailed technical reports that outline the scientific and technological challenges faced during R&D projects.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather necessary documentation, data, and evidence to support claims.
- Assist with identifying relevant government grants and funding opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications, ensuring all required documentation, technical information, and financial data are included.
- Work with team members to ensure that grant applications are submitted on time and are fully compliant with grant guidelines.
- Prepare claims and supporting documentation in alignment with R&D tax incentive guidelines and grant requirements.
- Required to learn and use internal finance systems (such as SAP) to extract and analyse data for inclusion in R&D Tax Incentive claim
- Stay current on updates to R&D tax incentive programs, government grants, and relevant legislation.
- Contribute to process improvements and enhance the efficiency of claims preparation and grant applications.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree qualification or equivalent experience in either a technical field (science, technology, or engineering) or commercial field (business, law, or finance). A combination of technical and commercial qualifications or experience will be looked upon favourably
- Experience in R&D tax incentives, grant applications, or a related field, such as accounting, finance or tax advisory.
- Proficiency in Excel and other analytical tools for data management and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into clear documentation for both tax claims and grant applications.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change
