Work Location: Dawson Rd, Perth Airport – Fortescue’s Perth facilities are located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people
Roster: Monday to Friday (Optional 8 or 10hr working days)
Fortescue - Products and Prototyping is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist or Multi Skilled CNC Machinist/ Fitter & Turner to join our growing team.
As an inhouse machinist you will provide the safe, effective, and timely fabrication of parts, completing assemblies and system builds as per design drawings and models provided.
A successful applicant will have sufficient experience and skills running cnc machines for one off prototypes to small scale production runs in a machine shop environment.
Given the R&D nature of our work we are looking for an experienced machinist with a broad skill set, ideally someone from a jobbing shop background to assist with problem solving not only in component manufacturing but also aiding the design team with practical solutions.
The role will primarily be the programming/ running of a CNC router, Fibre laser CNC VMC’s but any candidate with established fitting and fabrication skills would be highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate high quality and safety along with continuous improvement ideas
- Program, setup and operate CNC manufacturing equipment in a machine shop environment
- Understand and interpret both detailed drawings and Cad models for manufacture.
- Carry out planned and routine maintenance on machine shop equipment
- Work unsupervised with the ability to prioritize workload to increase production efficiency
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Demonstrate a commitment to zero harm by following health and safety procedures, protocols, and Fortescue values.
Qualifications and Experience
- Trade qualified: CNC Machinist or Multi Skilled CNC Machinist/ Fitter & Turner
- Experienced in CAD/ CAM programming (Fusion 360 would be a bonus)
- Must be adaptable to regular changes associated with constant product development
- The ability to review and understand both 3D models and detailed drawings
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a cohesive team environment
- Excellent communication skills to develop relationships with a broad range of people and internal customers
- Innovation - The ability to think outside the box, look for better ways and challenge the status quo
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision to set up processes and monitor own work achievements against agreed objectives
- Competent in both CNC and Manual machining practices
- Experience with AutoCad Fusion 360
- CAD design or drafting experience
- Welding skills in both Mig and Tig
- Forklift HRWL
- Dogging or Rigging Tickets.
