Location: Solomon - Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

 

Roster: 7D7R FIFO ex Perth

 

Experienced machine operators required to be part of Fortescue’s green revolution at the forefront of decarbonising our business. Operation of CAT 988 loader with specialist cable reeling attachment and other ancillary support fleet.

The Cable Handling Operator role reports directly to the Cable Management Supervisor and will be responsible to safely and efficiently install and manage electrical field and trailing cable and operate cable equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Operate cable equipment, trucks, loaders and support equipment, to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of enabling equipment for the Electrical Excavator to achieve the production targets by optimizing and implementing the daily mine plan and quality targets.
  • Coordinate with the dewatering high voltage electrical team for any switching requirements.
  • Interpreting and executing cable run designs with mine planning the cable locations from pit crest transformers to the Excavator switch and Excavator. This includes installing signage, delineation and protective arches and road covers as required.
  • Inform Field Builders of the cable layout and any infrastructure in the pit relative to the electric excavator to keep it real for the AHS fleet, by using geofences to protect where required.
  • Management of cable crossings underpass poles and matts on roads and ramps.
  • Ensure daily plans are followed for cable protection and relocating during blasting activities.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Operational background - minimum 2 years experience in ancillary fleet with Excavators, Loaders and Dewatering expertise.
  • Able to work in small teams with critical path work and undertake quality risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations WHS 2022.
  • Excellent planning, problem solving, communication and logistics skills.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office with working experience of SAP, BMS & SuccessFactors.
  • Ability to read and understand mine plans; risk management and hazard recognition.
