Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

This is a 12 month fixed term role

 

As a Category Management Officer - Rail, you are someone who is passionate, honest, enthusiastic, and willing to step up to the challenge of being part of an innovative and achievement driven organisation. 

 

The purpose of the Category Management Officer - Rail is to provide commercial support to stakeholders to meet business objectives in Fortescue’s rail operations category. 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Working proactively as part of a procurement team focused on providing exceptional customer service to deliver commercial support to Rail operations through an understanding and application of the below core competencies.
  • Developing and applying processes, procedures, systems, and knowledge to ensure optimum commercial benefit and minimal commercial risk.
  • Deliver value through effective management of strategic supplier relationships.
  • Provide support in building appropriate category strategies that are aligned with Fortescue business objectives and manage the end-to-end sourcing process for allocated projects, including data and pricing analysis.
  • Consultation with management, recommends appropriate sourcing approaches based on agreed category strategy.
  • Understanding of and the ability to apply effective process and an understanding of each party’s position to engage with suppliers to add value.
  • Ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk.
  • Effective analysis and reporting at all stages of the procurement lifecycle. Actively identifies commercial risks affecting procurement activities in consultation with business stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure full alignment of procurement effort with business needs and opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in procurement and contract management roles within mining or resource sector related industries. 
  • Strong skills in analysing tender submissions and making recommendations to award.
  • Effective written skills (e.g. drafting concise award recommendations, drafting contract conditions, drafting contract correspondence and variations).
  • Demonstrate an alignment to all of Fortescue’s values.
  • Effectively self-manage with an ability to efficiently manage priorities.
  • Show that you are driven to build a career in Procurement.
  • Show a level of resilience to challenging circumstances.
  • Work effectively as a member of a results driven team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Law or similar is desirable.
