Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster: Monday to Friday

 

This is a 12 month contract opportunity 

 

The Fixed Plant category team provides specialised procurement support to Fortescue’s mining operations. Key categories include fixed plant equipment & materials, shutdown & maintenance services, high volume consumables and equipment hire.

 

There is currently an opportunity for a Category Management Specialist to join the team for a 12-month maternity leave backfill. You will play a lead role in creating and managing procurement strategies to support Fortescue’s operations, working closely with internal stakeholders to optimise commercial arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Category management - develop sophisticated category strategies that are aligned with Fortescue’s business objectives and drive value with contracting partners.
  • Contract management - developing and applying processes, procedures, systems, and knowledge to ensure effective management of all contracts.
  • Supplier relationship management - delivering value, and mitigating supply chain risks, through effective management of strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strategic sourcing - development and end to end execution of sourcing and supply chain strategies.
  • Negotiating - development and execution of negotiation strategies for contracted categories.
  • Governance and risk management - ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk.
  • Analysis & reporting - effective analysis and reporting at all stages of the procurement lifecycle. Actively identifies commercial risks affecting procurement activities in consultation with business stakeholders.
  • Business partnering and commercial acumen - create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure full alignment of procurement effort with business needs and opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A demonstrated alignment to all of Fortescue’s values.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a fast-paced procurement function, ideally in a mining environment.
  • Ability to effectively self-manage with an ability to efficiently prioritise across multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated category management experience and commercial acumen through your previous professional experience.
  • Show a level of resilience to change and challenging circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a results driven team.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Law, Engineering or similar is desirable.
