Fortescue has an exciting opportunity for a Process Control Engineer to join our team! Collaborating with a team of Process Control Engineers, you will support, develop, and integrate control systems and processes to continually enhance the operation and reliability of the two ore processing facilities and stockyard.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

             Safety Practice: Anticipate and proactively resolve potential problems to ensure a zero-harm environment through the design and formulation of technical solutions.

•             Evaluate and analyse equipment and processes.

•             Design and develop new control systems, including testing, maintenance and modification of existing systems to ensure optimal utilization.

•             Collaborate with relevant departments to provide technical solutions for operational support and projects.

•             Technical Knowledge: Continually develop processing and process control knowledge and skills to deliver continuous business improvements.

•             Build cooperative relationships to design new equipment and/or systems in conjunction with internal and external experts.

•             Design and implement purposeful improvement ideas based on a detailed examination of anticipated or recurring problems of a process control nature.

•             Support the ongoing maintenance of control systems assets, including PLCs, servers, network and communication equipment, and field devices.

•             Have a good understanding of maintenance KPIs and their application.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

•             Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar field.

•             Previous experience as a Process Control Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineer, Control Systems Engineer or similar, preferably within the mining, resource or heavy equipment industry.

•             Familiarity with control system design and implementing best practices.

•             Working knowledge and familiarity with relevant operating platforms, programs and software/hardware such as GE/Emerson-Fanuc PLCs & SCADA, Allen-Bradley, Siemens & Quantum PLCs.

•             Current and valid WA C-Class driver’s licence, at a minimum.

•             Working knowledge of mineral processing plants and balance machines.

•             Excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on continual improvement.

•             Strong planning, organisational, scheduling and coordination skills, including time management.

•             Effective communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

•            Qualifications and/or previous experience relating to instrumentation and commissioning within a processing facility would be favourable
