Work Location: Cloudbreak mine site (Chichester Hub)
- Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples
Roster: 8D/rR FIFO ex. Perth
Reporting to the Senior Control Systems Engineer – Chichester Water Management, the role will provide engineering and technical support for control systems infrastructure including, but not limited to, industrial network, SCADA, PLC, telemetry system and instrumentation to enable the team to meet its safety, cost and performance objectives.
The Chichester Water Management department operates several telemetry networks across licensed and unlicensed radio bands in the 450 and 900 MHz range and encompasses a multi-generational technology mix and is monitored by an Cimplicity SCADA system.

Key Responsibilities
- Ongoing site maintenance/operational support of the current Chichester Water Management Telemetry Systems and associated infrastructure including: System development and improvement, system diagnostics, fault finding and root cause analysis.
- Directing site-based resources as required to ensure the Chichester Water Management Telemetry System and associated assets are well maintained and operating efficiently & effectively.
- Liaise with key external stakeholders such as the planning, and corporate engineering & design teams to provide key technical input and direction for future system upgrades and associated projects
- Development and maintenance of key Chichester Water Management Telemetry System operating documentation including: Reports, drawings, procedures, functional specifications, asset registers and change management
- Provide control systems engineering support to the wider Chichester Water Management team, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement
- Develop and provide training to upskill the team to achieve sustained improvement and performance
Qualifications and Experience
- Be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science having extensive work experience in control systems design, programming and commissioning
- Must have minimum 3 years proven experience in control system design, integration, development and commissioning
- Must have demonstrated proficiency with GE Cimplicity SCADA, Proficy Historian, Csense, MS SQL and GE-IP PLC platforms
- Experience with Miri and Kingfisher RTUs is highly desirable, but not essential.
- Sound knowledge of industrial & telemetry communication networks and systems protocols including Moxa Industrial Switches, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, EGD, and OPC Protocol
- Experience with soft starters, VSDs and Pump controllers
- Experience in radio networks will be highly regarded
- Proficiency with database and reporting tools such as SSRS and Tableau will be highly regarded
- Extensive skills and experience in Industrial Control and Automation (SCADA and PLC) including design, software development, testing and commissioning will be highly regarded
