Our Opportunity

Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people

 

Roster: 8D 6R FIFO ex Perth

 

We’re seeking a motivated Process Control Engineer to join the Iron Bridge team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and improvement of process control systems across our assets. Reporting to the Senior Process Control Engineer, you’ll contribute to building a strong team culture, driving system optimisation, and identifying opportunities for continual improvement in safety, reliability, and performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and reliable operations by proactively identifying and resolving technical issues to support a zero-harm workplace.
  • Commission and maintain drives, instrumentation, and field devices to optimise plant performance.
  • Design, develop, test, and improve control systems for efficient process operation.
  • Collaborate across departments to provide innovative technical solutions and project support.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives in process control design, performance, and team capability.
  • Maintain PLCs, servers, networks, and communication systems to ensure high system availability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in process control systems within mining or fixed plant environments.
  • Proficient in PLC and SCADA platforms (GE/Emerson PPS and Machine Edition, CIMPLICITY, Siemens, Allen Bradley) and related hardware.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP) and IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (AS/IEC 61508, 62061) and instrumentation systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills with a focus on continuous improvement
