We have an exciting opportunity to join Fortescue’s Corporate Development team working as a Manager Corporate Development (Energy) in a small high performing team. The role is based in Fortescue’s head office and involves close collaboration with other key functions including Technical, Strategy, Finance and Legal. In this role you will report to the Senior Manager Corporate Development (Energy) in support of Fortescue’s energy investments, projects and associated M&A activities.

 

You will play a key role in business-critical initiatives, leading commercial activities including negotiations and analysis for Fortescue’s energy investments, projects, acquisitions, divestments and other related activities. This role will give you the opportunity to utilise your deep opportunity management skills and requires a quick thinker and good collaborator.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Leading negotiations and providing direction with regards to the development, implementation and management of commercial agreements to ensure alignment with strategic business objectives
  • Coordinate a range of internal stakeholders to conduct thorough commercial analysis, due diligence and risk assessments to guide strategic decision-making during negotiations
  • Review financial valuations and other information to determine the value and risk of potential transactions
  • Preparing and presenting investment decision papers to the Investment Committee and CEO
  • Oversight of transaction execution and financial close in accordance with internal approvals and in collaboration with other internal functions such as Legal and Finance
  • Assisting in the successful integration of acquisitions, collaborating with other support functions.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 10+ years experience in corporate development, commercial, strategy, consulting or similar fast paced environments, preferably in energy, infrastructure, resources or heavy industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business, finance, law, or related field
  • Ability to synthesise complex issues and prepare high quality materials to support decision making
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills and strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strong external and internal relationships and influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
