Role overview

 

The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in the Data Analytics for Health and Safety team at Fortescue. This hybrid role combines the responsibilities of a Data Analyst and a Business Analyst, focusing on data analysis, process mapping, and supporting health and safety initiatives. The role requires a deep understanding of data analysis techniques, the ability to translate data into actionable insights, and expertise in optimizing business processes.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources to derive meaningful insights.
  • Develop and apply statistical models and analytical techniques to solve complex business problems related to health and safety.
  • Collaborate with the team to design data experiments, gather data, and perform hypothesis testing.
  • Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Write python/SQL code to create objects and automate tasks.
  • Conduct process mapping and analysis to identify areas for improvement in health and safety processes.
  • Propose and implement process enhancements, automation, and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to scope and define data requirements for health and safety analytics.
  • Translating requirements into technical workplans.
  • Design data and automation pipelines across business systems.
  • Document data analysis methodologies, business processes, and improvements made.
  • Collaborate with the Visualization Engineer to ensure that data visualizations and dashboards support the analysis and reporting needs.
  • Coordinate with the Analytics Engineer to access and prepare data for analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Platforms or data warehousing concepts. Including ETL processes, integration of systems via APIs and other data feeds.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization.
  • Strong business analysis skills, including process mapping and improvement.
  • SQL experience essential, snowflake desirable.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Desirable exposure working in DataOps, Agile, Scrum, Continuous Delivery and/or Rapid Application Desirable Desirable understanding of AWS Cloud
  • Desirable understanding of Machine Learning.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
