As a Digital Radio Technical Lead, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, configuring, optimising, and expanding Fortescue’s DAMM Tetra Radio Communications Network.
This is a hands-on technical role that ensures the reliability and performance of mission-critical radio systems across multiple mine sites. You’ll play a central part in supporting operations, troubleshooting complex issues, leading network optimisation, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain Fortescue’s DAMM TetraFlex radio network infrastructure across multiple mine sites

Configure and optimise radio systems, including talk groups, gateways, IP backbones, and radio IDs

Plan and deliver network expansions and coverage improvements through RF analysis and hardware integration

Provide Level 2/3 technical support, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis for incidents and outages

Ensure compliance with ACMA spectrum licensing, RF safety standards, and internal protocols

Maintain detailed system documentation, asset registers, and licensing records

Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal OT teams to support projects and resolve complex issues

Deliver training and share knowledge to uplift technical capability across site-based teams
Qualifications and Experience

10+ years’ experience in electronics/communications roles, ideally in mining or heavy industry

Strong technical expertise with DAMM Tetra radio networks and Cisco (or equivalent) networking systems

Hands-on experience with fleet management systems, MineStar Autonomous Haul System, and RF communication systems

Cert IV in Communications Trade (minimum), with open cabling licence (coax, structured & fibre)

C Class driver’s licence (manual) and current First Aid/CPR certifications

Experience with Cambium networks highly regarded

Proven ability to fault find, repair hardware, and interpret technical schematics/wiring diagrams

Strong communication skills with a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
