Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 8D6R FIFO
We are seeking 2 Earthworks Coordinator one for each panel to join our team on an 8n6 roster. This role is essential to the success of our mining operations, providing coordination, planning, and oversight of earthwork activities across our site. The Earthworks Coordinator will ensure all earthmoving tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project timelines and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all earthworks clearing activities, and land preparation, ensuring operations meet project specifications.
- Promote and foster a positive safety culture within the Drilling and Earthworks team.
- Coordinate equipment to optimize productivity and reduce delays, while maintaining a high standard of work quality.
- Work closely with site supervisors and the geology team to maintain a smooth flow of information and address any issues or adjustments in project plans.
- Ensure that earthworks are completed with minimal environmental impact and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Daily work area inspections and field leaderships.
- Preserve the indigenous heritage and culture by maintaining high standards of awareness within the team.
- Comply with Fortescue site specific HSES and OH&S policies, work instructions, procedures and reporting protocols. Review and update these documents on a regular basis.
- Work closely with the drilling team to schedule equipment to meet requirements of their scopes and adhere to changing drill plans.
- Manage Time Usage of each asset to understand time losses in the operations environment and manage scheduled / unscheduled maintenance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous management of earthmoving plant and equipment desirable, in the Pilbara preferably.
- 3 years or more working in earthmoving related fields.
- Previous experience working within and understanding of adherence to ground disturbance permits (internal and regulatory) is desirable.
- High level of communication and team leadership.
- Class C manual WA driver’s licence.
- Current first aid.
- Operate and maintain a 4WD.
- Good skills in computing and experience in using machine guidance systems desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety practices, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Relevant experience and familiarity with regulatory compliance in mining operations is highly valued.
