Work Location: Chichester – Fortescue’s Chichester hub is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide technical and reliability support for electrical equipment and instrumentation across Fortescue’s Non-Processing Infrastructure and Green Energy Hub. This includes developing asset management strategies, ensuring equipment reliability, and driving safety through HAZIDs, HAZOPs, FMECA and RCA.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the reliability and performance of electrical equipment, reducing unplanned outages and maintenance costs.
- Apply data analysis and digital tools to predict failures and plan interventions.
- Oversee electrical system design and installation to meet safety and compliance standards.
- Work closely with mechanical, process and operations teams to integrate electrical components seamlessly into plant infrastructure.
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify and resolve electrical issues promptly, providing technical support to site electricians.
- Stay on top of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing enhancements to operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in electrical reliability engineering within a mining or heavy industrial processing environment.
- Certificate IV in Hazardous Area’s or Classification Competency provided by a Registered Training Organisation.
- TÜV or equivalent qualification in Functional Safety (desirable).
- Experience with VSDs, protection relays, power system analysis, HV/LV assets.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Demonstrated competency in SAP; knowledge in utilising databases in SQL or Snowflake is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience with Managing Electrical Equipment Hazardous Area.
- Demonstrated experience with and Managing Instrumentation Equipment Hazardous Area.
- Working within a processing operation and/or refinery with gas infrastructure.
- Working with High Voltage and Low Voltage Electrical Assets (including Motors, VSDs, Transformers, Switchgear).
