Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrician to join the Solomon Process Plant team in the Ore Processing Facility (OPF) – supporting both Kings and Firetail. You will be part of a high-performance fixed plant maintenance team to safely deliver world-class availability and reliability in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely repair, maintain and improve fixed plant electrical equipment (crushing, conveying, screening, dewatering and associated infrastructure), supporting shutdown execution and QA/QC where required.
  • Always put the safety of yourself and your workmates first; actively participate in Risk assessments, pre-starts and hazard reporting.
  • Adhere to all electrical statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrate initiative and prioritise workload in line with the weekly plan in SAP, including timely notifications, work orders and confirmations.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns, follow escalation processes and provide realistic downtime estimates.
  • Identify and scope continuous improvement and reliability opportunities, including PM improvements and SWI/PRT updates.
  • Participate in PSB / toolbox meetings and effectively communicate with Supervisors, Operations, Mechanical and Engineering teams.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • WA “A” Class Electrical Worker’s Licence.
  • Minimum 4 years post-trade experience as an Electrician within FIFO mining.
  • Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance in an OPF / crushing hub environment.
  • High Voltage (HV) switching qualification and recent HV switching experience.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work autonomously without constant supervision.
  • Computer literate, including experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
