The successful candidate will join the research and development laboratory in the Fortescue Hydrogen Systems team to participate in the development of water electrolysis technologies. Duties include reviewing and understanding test requirements, devising testing plans and procedures, designing prototypes and testing stations, hands-on building of electrolysers, executing test plans, data analysis and formal reporting of issues and findings.

 

Experience in a relevant field is not required, skills can be taught. You just need desire to learn new things and the confidence to move fast and be ready to innovate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the R&D team in developing new and emerging water electrolysis technologies.
  • Conceptualise, plan, and execute a testing framework to generate high-quality physiochemical test results using bench top electrolyser cell.
  • Assembling, disassembling, and cleaning of the fabricated parts at specified stages during testing with exceptional attention to detail and integrity.
  • Design, set up, and maintain bench scale water electrolysers testing stations.
  • Develop robust testing strategy documents, reports, and procedures.
  • Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration to provide feedback to SMEs and managers through analysis of test results.
  • Participating in all lab activities including safety reviews, general lab maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Adhering to all laboratory safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electrochemical engineering is highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Strong hands-on experience in testing hardware system.
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to solve problems in a measured and creative way.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of basic laboratory techniques and safety data sheets.
