Environment Advisor - Social Surrounds
Our Opportunity
Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday - 13 month fixed term contract
Are you passionate about nature and science? We have the perfect opportunity for you! As an Environmental Advisor – Social Surrounds, you will coordinate Social Surroundings studies (dust, noise, visual), plan field/site visit logistics for consultants, manage projects, review reports, and communicate study outcomes to external stakeholders. You'll also have the chance to develop skills in various environmental disciplines, including soils and landforms, flora/vegetation, terrestrial fauna, invertebrates, and subterranean ecology. Be part of a dedicated Nature and Science team focused on making a positive impact in the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage Social Surroundings studies (i.e. scoping, site mobilisation, report reviews).
- Maintain environment databases (i.e., spatial data, document control).
- Communicate outcomes of Social Surroundings studies to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Forecast and maintain studies schedules and budgets.
- Support Senior Environmental Advisors in the Nature and Science team as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Management, or Engineering.
- 5+ years of resource sector experience.
- Proven experience in a similar environmental role.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Pilbara environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications.
- Experience in using GIS software.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and report writing.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to work with and form positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
