Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Pilbara Operations.  Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

 

Roster:  4D/3R/5D/2R FIFO ex Perth

 

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to coordinate a variety of exciting and innovative environmental studies, supporting both current and future approvals for our Iron Bridge project.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Plan and coordinate on-site activities necessary to implement the Pilbara leaf-nosed Bat Habitat and Research Plan (Condition 10 – Ministerial Statement 993).
  • Track compliance against the Plan and ensure QA/QC of project deliverables.
  • Coordinate and participate in biological studies required for the North Star Extension project.
  • Ensure safe field monitoring and compliance with Fortescue H&S standards.
  • Maintain project budget, schedules, and provide technical advice.
  • Engage with project stakeholders and assist with issue resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 4+ years of experience in an environmental role within industry or government.
  • Strong ecological knowledge and understanding of relevant WA and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
  • Experience with threatened bat species (highly desirable).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ArcMap.
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail with a compliance focus.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental or Biological Science
