Environment Advisor
Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth
This permanent full time position is within the Environment Operations team. Fortescue's Environment Operations department is looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor who will report directly to the Superintendent Environment.
The role will primarily be responsible for supporting operational environmental compliance and management system obligations, with a focus on providing compliance advice to a range of environmental approvals requirements, and deliver on EPA part IV and V reporting. Other responsibilities include environmental monitoring, data management and operational support/liaison.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee field based environmental monitoring activities, including surface water, groundwater, dust and soil sampling
- Oversee analysis of monitoring data against trigger level and long-term trends for reporting
- Undertake internal compliance verifications to ensure environmental approval requirements are implemented
- Audit and manage environmental risk using Fortescue’s risk management systems
- Lead incident investigations and the identification and implementation of corrective actions
- Prepare annual statutory environmental compliance reports
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or equivalent.
- 4-8 years’ experience in a relevant industry role.
- Proven knowledge of WA and Federal environmental legislation and guidelines.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with multiple levels of leadership across the organisation.
- Proficient with MS Office and general IT systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and prioritisation skills.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
