Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster: Monday-Friday.

 

The External Affairs team within Fortescue’s Global Sustainability and External Affairs Department works across the breadth of the business and externally, developing and implementing government advocacy, approval and stakeholder engagement strategies that deepen relationships and create the foundations for operational efficiency and growth in the areas of decarbonization, green energy transition and technology, green iron and mine development. 

 

This role is responsible for supporting and implementing the full range of government relations day-to-day activities at the direction of the Senior Manager External Affairs APAC. The role will work closely with and support the work of other members of the External Affairs APAC team.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support work of APAC External Affairs team with document preparation, general administration, meeting and event coordination and logistics.
  • Prepare briefing materials for Fortescue leaders and executives on policy and regulatory issues and to support engagement with government.
  • Maintain databases and records of Fortescue representatives participation on various industry association working groups
  • Prepare and gain internal approvals for written documents to support government engagement. For example, letters, submissions or policy review programs, presentations to meetings and conferences, internal communications materials
  • Work autonomously to contribute to the Government & Stakeholder Engagement team managing day-to-day reactive government engagement to support the wider Fortescue business
  • Manage and maintain record of Fortescue executives’ and leaders’ engagement with Government representatives.
  • Represent Fortescue at meetings with Government representatives, industry associations, stakeholders and at conferences and business engagement events.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Experience in a similar role, including working in or with government and regulatory processes, is desirable.
  • Experience in organizing events and logistics.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and independently progress streams of work to a high standard.
  • Highly developed administrative and computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member.
  • High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to positively engage with internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and build strong relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proven ability to deliver results while working under pressure on multiple projects with tight timeframes.
  • Experience with Stakeholder Relationship Management systems is desirable.
