Our Opportunity

Work Location: Across Fortescue’s Pilbara mine locations

 

Roster:  2 Weeks on 2 Weeks off  – FIFO ex. Perth or Busselton

 

As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic supporting Fortescue’s operations across multiple sites, your expertise will be vital in maintaining and optimising our fleet of Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME). You’ll play a key role in keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently, directly contributing to the reliability of our operations and supporting Fortescue’s broader sustainability and decarbonisation goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service large-scale mobile mining equipment, focusing on CAT 793 Dump Trucks
  • Diagnose and resolve faults to keep operations running smoothly
  • Perform both workshop and pit duties as required
  • Execute planned & preventative maintenance to optimize fleet performance
  • Attend to urgent breakdowns in the field, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Collaborate with a dynamic mobile maintenance team to achieve top-tier results
  • Always follow strict safety and operational protocols

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology/ Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical
    Technology – a must-have!
  • Mobile plant experience in a mining environment – essential
  • FIFO experience and a strong understanding of remote site operations
  • Commitment to workplace safety – non-negotiable!
  • A valid, unrestricted Australian driver’s license
  • Current working rights in Australia
