Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

 

Roster: Monday - Friday

 

** Mulitple opportunities available - 2x Permanent Full Time postions and 1x Fixed Term Contract (4-6 month parental leave cover) **

 

Fortescue is embarking on an exponential growth phase, transitioning towards a greener energy future. To support this mission, our Heritage team is expanding and actively seeking experienced Heritage Advisors for multiple positions (see above).

 

These roles encompass a range of responsibilities, from coordinating surveys, studies and field activities in relation to Heritage and/or Environmental Approvals (SCHMP) while ensuring safety and compliance, to building strong stakeholder relations and promoting a positive team culture. Additionally, the positions involve preparing accurate approvals documentation, engaging in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and implementing effective engagement strategies with Traditional Custodians. Proactive issue resolution and adherence to legislation are fundamental aspects of these roles, further emphasising Fortescue's commitment to heritage preservation and sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work safely in coordinating heritage surveys and field activities in collaboration with Traditional Custodians, their representatives, and internal stakeholders.
  • Authorise on-site works in compliance with Fortescue’s management systems and relevant legislation, ensuring compliance with heritage acts and land access agreements.
  • Build and enhance positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to meet and advance operational and development requirements.
  • Foster a positive team and workplace culture, promoting collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Prepare heritage and environmental-related approvals documentation accurately and in a timely manner, aligning with business requirements.
  • Assist in the collaboration of heritage content for external meetings with Native Title Parties and Government Regulators.
  • Assist in the implementation of heritage engagement strategies to meet business requirements and regulator expectations.
  • Escalate delays or issues that arise appropriately, ensuring a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualification in archaeology, anthropology, or environmental science.
  • Knowledge of the Western Australia Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 and the Environmental Protection Act 1986 will be highly regarded.
  • Consultation or field experience working with Traditional Owners will be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or a tertiary qualification in related disciplines (e.g., archaeology, anthropology, environmental sciences, sociology or law) is beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver results within tight timeframes.
  • Highly developed administrative and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and spatial management software (Arc GIS or similar).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to establish and strengthen relationships.
  • High-level interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work safely and as a collaborative team member.
