Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

 

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer – Mechanical to join our Christmas Creek Engineering & Reliability team. You will lead a team of engineers, providing senior technical advice and ensuring adherence to asset management principles. This is a leadership role for someone passionate about driving reliability, continuous improvement and team development in a safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of different levelled Reliability Engineers.
  • Oversee personnel management, training, succession planning and recruitment.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance, shutdown, and project teams.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and task lists.
  • Follow the Reliability Roadmap, including FMEA, bad actor analysis and spare parts management (BOM).
  • Monitor and improve departmental KPIs including reliability, decarbonisation and operational excellence metrics.
  • Act as Control Owner for Critical Risks Management, ensuring effective mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, external regulations and best practice reliability principles.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Extensive experience in reliability engineering and technical team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management principles, reliability metrics, and relevant legislation (Mine Safety, OHS, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project and SAP.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and collaborative skills.
