Work Location: Perth Office - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
The Lead Planner requires knowledge and experience across Planning of major capital projects, project controls, commercial and construction activities.
The role is responsible for progressing the development planning of an ongoing study into execution schedule for a mega project. This includes the implementation of the progress measurement system and processes; alignment with the cost control systems; managing and leading the contractor schedules, approvals and change management on the schedules; and analysing progress and potential claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Continue development of Level 3 study schedule into Level 4 execution schedule, ensuring integration with budget
- Schedule management ensuring its quality (logic, clarity) and accuracy (update of dates, reflection of the project scope)
- Review / Approve contractor L4 schedules (including bar charts, S-curves, histograms, deliverables, probability/accuracy analysis)
- Update progress and integration of contractor schedules into the master program
- Maintain any interface milestones between various contractors and client managed scope
- Manage change control for the planning and progress measurement systems including communication of the impacts of changes on the schedule to the leadership team
- Apply Earned Value Management techniques to measure/status and monitor progress and performance, and present dashboard reports to the Leadership team
- Accurate and timely issuing of both weekly and month end reports
- Facilitate / Participate in schedule workshops, risk reviews, etc
- Facilitate / attend contractors' meetings related to schedule and progress
- Establish positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordination of planning aspects within the broader project services team ensuring alignment and collaboration with the other functions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in engineering or internationally accredited project controls certification
- At least 15 years of industry experience, of which 10 years should be in Planning or equivalent
- Ability to understand overall project schedule and business priorities
- Experience in large scale projects in international environments
- Experience leading and developing Planning teams
- Client-side / Operator experience with exposure to the full project life cycle, from concept through to execution, and the associated stage gates.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with project and corporate stakeholders
- Advanced skills in Primavera P6, MS Office Suite, Acumen Fuse, Risk Analysis, One Pager and Business Intelligence tools like Power BI • Ability to work within a team environment
- Demonstrate awareness and compliance with safe workplace practices and duty of care.
