Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office - located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people

 

 

Roster: Monday to Friday, with flexible work arrangements available

 

 

In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets by 2030, we are looking for a Management Accountant/Finance Business Partner to join our Global Corporate Function Commercial Team working across One Fortescue. 

 

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager Global Corporate Functions, this role will be responsible for driving financial performance and value for Fortescue’s Corporate Functions.  The role will be primarily focused on improving expenditure budgeting/forecasting and value optimisation, supporting critical decisions by weighing up risk and value, establishing consistent reporting framework and processes upon integration of the function, preparing business cases for decision support, and providing commercial and analytical support to all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate and deliver accurate and transparent month-end processes, budgets, and quarterly forecasts, ensuring timeliness and alignment with Fortescue’s reporting standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor key financial performance indicators, support business improvement opportunities, and implement cost-saving initiatives aligned with Fortescue’s strategic objectives and commitment to operational efficiency
  • Provide comprehensive analysis and driver-based costs analysis to support business decisions
  • Lead the month-end process, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and proactively identify and implement opportunities to optimise processes and enhance efficiency through automation and best practices
  • Build strong relationships with key corporate stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor, delivering financial insights that are critical to decision-making and driving value across Fortescue’s operations
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards (e.g., AASB) and Fortescue’s accounting policies, maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and supporting the organisation’s commitment to transparency and corporate governance.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Membership (or working towards) CAANZ qualification or CPA Australia
  • Post qualification experience in a similar type role is preferred
  • Collaborative team player, proactive problem solver and passion towards learning new systems or financial tools
  • Strong analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • High degree of attention to detail and commit to meeting deadlines
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experiences with SAP, Anaplan, Power BI is preferred.
