Work Location:  Perth, Western Australia.  Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday.

 

A unique opportunity has arisen to join Fortescue’s Decarbonisation journey in the position of Manager Decarbonisation – Financial Planning & Analysis.  

 

This role is a key member of the Finance function within the Decarbonisation team as the custodian leading the Finance Planning and Analysis function driving financial strategy through valuation drivers, scenario analysis, integrity of forecast routines and governance and supporting the successful delivery of Fortescue’s decarbonisation strategy.

 

Reporting to the GM Financial Planning & Analysis, this position will suit an experienced values driven Finance Leader who enjoys working within a dynamic environment, commercially astute around whole of business value drivers and is a highly engaging and collaborative team player with a track record of delivering to high standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Finance lead providing independent review and consolidation of the decarbonisation program economics across announced scope and future decarbonisation growth workstreams, connecting into the group corporate financial plan.
  • Articulate delivery valuation, risk and opportunities to key assumptions and valuation scenarios impacting the decarbonisation program and the group long term financials.
  • Key conduit of all decarbonisation costs and physicals into the quarterly corporate model update (inclusive of the Life of Mine (LOM) born green hub developments, domestic and international growth projects).
  • Identify gaps and risks across financial planning landscape in executing on decarbonisation outcomes
  • Providing quarterly strategic insights and analysis on key movements and business implications on all time horizons.
  • Monitor market guidance position relative to changes in program economics quarter to quarter
  • Influence the strategic evaluation model to support Decarbonisation program investment decision-making and quarterly forecasting routines are maintained with a strong governance framework inclusive of updated, documented and verified assumptions.
  • Finance lead into decarbonation related corporate workstreams including funding, investor relations, sustainability. Commercial input, decision evaluation and analytical support to stakeholders to support resolving challenging problems and drive optimal business decisions.
  • Support decarbonation team and finance business partners to drive strong governance routines across the quarterly forecast process.
  • Apply appropriate technical guidance on operational and capital expenditure in accordance with group policy, enforcing good corporate governance across the program.
  • Review Steering Committee and Board reporting ensuring Decarbonisation papers are consistent with the group corporate model and other related papers disclosing decarbarbonisation outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 10+ years’ experience working in leadership level equivalent positions.
  • Qualified CA, CPA, MBA, CFA (or equivalent).
  • Experience in decision support and economic evaluation positions.
  • Extensive experience in a mining, resources, or energy environment is desirable
  • Sound knowledge of valuation principles and experience performing financial analysis in a business planning, forecasting and/or investment evaluation environment.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Good understanding of relevant accounting standards
  • Experience working with complex multi discipline stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, standards and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
