Our Opportunity

Work Location:  Fortescue’s Perth CBD office located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday (flexible hours, with childcare creche available in the Perth office). Availability for regular site visits also required.

We are looking for a strong people leader to join us in the position of Manager Mobile Assets, to lead our team of mobile fleet experts in optimising and managing our mobile asset portfolio across our Metals operations. In this role, your team will provide strategic and technical guidance on fleet selection, especially as we transition to green fleet, as well as will be responsible for developing and managing maintenance strategies, overseeing long-term planning, and coordinating the acquisition and transfer of ancillary assets. Additionally, you’ll manage off-site major repairs, warranty claims, and lead the Mobile reliability teams, positioned at each operational site. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of leaders and mobile fleet experts. Creating a collaborative and empowering environment that promotes professional growth and innovation.
  • Provide direction and boundaries on the technical requirements and considerations with mobile fleet as we transition to guidance on fleet selection, with a focus on advancing our green fleet initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for fleet optimisation and sustainability.
  • Develop and manage maintenance strategies to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of mobile assets.
  • Coordinate long-term planning for operating fleet across the Metals operations. 
  • Manage off-site major repairs to reduce safety risk exposure on-site, ensure minimal downtime and maximum availability of mobile assets.
  • Monitor and enhance the reliability of mobile assets through strong defect elimination, data analysis, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and operational teams and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment on critical mobile fleet initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience in leading large teams, especially remote / virtual team members. 
  • A background in fleet management, mobile asset maintenance and/or strategic planning is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively manage a diverse team and collaborate with stakeholders.
